On Sunday, 24 March 2019, Nika Kljun and her family visited Otočec and “her room”. Even though she is used to world-class achievements she says that this event is a great honour for her. A photograph of the world-renowned dance choreographer now adorns a room in the four-star Hotel Sport. Room no. 210 is now a synonym for and tribute to Slovenian sport and sportspeople.

There is always something fun going on in Otočec. In October 2018 they organised a prize competition on social media in honour of all top Slovenian athletes, with the promise that the image of the winner will grace a renovated superior room in the Hotel Sport. Because they value dedication, passion for sport and an active lifestyle, they decided that Slovenian sportspeople have to be a part of their story of success. After a tense vote Nika Kljun, the world-renowned choreographer and world champion in hip hop, came out on top.

At the Hotel Sport each superior room is customised for a particular sport. The renovated superior rooms are decorated with large format photographs of sports that are held in high regard and also “available” in Otočec. Tennis, cycling, golf, basketball, football, volleyball, swimming – to name just a few! The hotel decided that they needed to dedicate one room to a Slovenian sportsperson and sport, but wanted the decision of who this should be to be made by their followers on social media. The voters got to choose from among 14 athletes: Luka Dončić, Goran Dragić, Ana Drev, Vesna Fabjan, Tim Gajser, Nika Kljun, Anže Kopitar, Žan Košir, Jan Oblak, Peter Prevc, Primož Roglič, Ilka Štuhec, Tina Trstenjak and Urška Žolnir. Their followers on social media had one month to vote for their “fave athlete”. During the prize contest the result was unpredictable till the very end – the top places behind Nika Kljun were filled by Luka Dončič, the Slovenian basketball ace who is now building his career with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, and Primož Roglič, the world-renowned cyclist who has won innumerable races. Even though the second and third favourite were trailing her closely, Nika Kljun was declared the winner with 40.71 percent of the votes.
